2021 will long be remembered as the year that we erected a children’s play area at Northside Mackay Uniting Church.

The area had been fenced for quite a while in advance. A group of us walked 33km around Mackay in March 2020 in order to raise the funds – that will be remembered by Rev Wayne for a very long time.

Finally the playground equipment was bought as flatpack, and we had a huge day of construction that finished under flood lights, but we got it done.

Some have nicknamed the centre-piece “Hogwarts Tower”, but whatever it makes you think of, the kids LOVE IT!

How did we ever have a church without a playground? As one recent visitor said, “I think every Uniting Church should have one of these!”
