The good news is that our children’s ministry has grown, and that our hall facility is used now more than ever before.
The challenging news is that we need more hall space to continue growing all the ministries on the Northside Mackay property.
In brief, we are building another hall, extending the patio and enlarging and renovating our kitchen.
- $500,000 plus interest is held by our Synod (state body) in our name, having come from the sale of the Seaforth church property.
- With donations from many people, we now have the funds required to move ahead.
- A patio has already been built, which is a great blessing.
- Work has commenced (13 May 2026) on the new hall, kitchen upgrade and patio extension.
That is it in super-summary. Financially, we now have to manage available funds to get all this work completed in a volatile market.

We have already added solar power to the site and air conditioning in the existing hall.
We will be enlarging and renovating the kitchen and refreshing the existing hall. Of course the new hall will be air conditioned. The eastern 4m of the new hall will be a meeting room (6m) and storage space (9.7m).
Our play group started in 2023 and now has up to 40 children (plus parents) each Monday morning. It grows almost every week and is a most exciting development.
Ministry to children is a growing thing at Northside, and we love it!
Finance for the project is now about managing the funds we have available against rising prices and unforeseen things that arise during the project. We are finding the most popular way to donate now is by funding a specific unforeseen cost, or a cost that falls outside of our contract with the builder.
Examples that have been covered in that way so far:
- Storage room shelving and associated items (outside the contract)
- Air conditioning the new hall (chosen to cover outside the contract)
- New fencing (outside the contract)
- Establishing and turfing the yard when complete (outside the contract)
Examples that are arising now:
- There are currently no specific issues needing funding, so any donations at this time would go to general project funds – and still be greatly appreciated.
If you do wish to make a donation, the steps are:
- Make the donation if you are able to using online banking.
- BSB: 014010, Account #: 286372829, Account name: Northside UCA
- Please enter “BUILDING” for the reference.
- Fill out and submit this form. This will allow you to explain what expense you’re covering, if that is what you’re doing. It will also let you start a conversation if you were unable to donate using online banking. This form will be sent to our treasurer, or in their absence, our deputy treasurer.
