Fundraising for our Hall Extension Project

Northside Mackay and Seaforth Uniting Church exists to proclaim the good news of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ, and to be a loving, supporting community of faith for those who call this church home.

The good news is that our children’s ministry has grown, and that our hall facility is used now more than ever before.

The challenging news is that we need more hall space to continue growing all the ministries on the Northside Mackay property.

In brief, we are pursuing an extension of our existing hall, via grant funding:

  • If successful, the main grant (Federal Govt “Growing Regions Fund”) will provide 50% of the funds, which must at least construct the unfurnished buildings.
  • $500,000 is held by our Synod (state body) in our name, having come from the sale of the Seaforth property.
  • We need to raise as much money, as quickly as possible, to increase that $500,000 towards $750,000, to maximise what can be achieved from the main grant.
  • Other smaller grants may supply solar panels, air conditioning and extension/remodelling of the existing small kitchen, if there is insufficient funding from the main grant.
  • If we were to fail in our main grant application, the funds we raise will still increase what we are able to achieve.

That is it in super-summary.  If you wish to make a financial contribution, head to the bottom of this page for details. To learn more, keep reading.

Concept Drawing

The image above is the rough concept plan that we have at this time. The two structures furthest left are proposed, and the rest describe our existing facility.

Mockup Yard View

The image above is an effort to show what the yard view of the new proposed structures. It is not drawn to measure, and is based on a panorana photograph of the yard, making the further areas look smaller than they would in reality. The undercover area looks small, as drawn, but goes from the existing hall roof-line almost to the double gates. The profile of the undercover area roof should be ignored – it is simply covered to show it will be covered.

In addition to the added space, we hope to have solar power added to the site, and air conditioning in the new hall, existing hall, and hopefully also the worship centre.

It is also hoped that we will be able to enlarge and properly equip the kitchen, and redeploy the existing hall. That redevelopment is not yet planned, and may come after the rest of the project.

Our play group started in 2023 and now has up to 18 children (plus parents) each Monday morning. It grows almost every week and is a most exciting development.

Ministry to children is a growing thing at Northside, and we love it!

We have been averaging about 16 children at church each week over the last 3 years, but this year it is pushing consistently above 20. It is very exciting!
